Library Page Picks
Abbey, our collegiate page, writes, "As a child who was disappointed at still not knowing how to read after the first day of kindergarten, I can say I've read my fair share of books. I love mysteries, spy books, historical fiction, fantasy, action-adventures, contemporary novels, and fairy tales. The problem is I've read so many books I don't remember them all. So after lots of thinking, I've made a list of my all-time favorites, as well as many of my current favorites, the ones freshest in my memory."
All-Time Favorites
Favorite Author: Shannon Hale
She has written six books, and I own them all. Consequently, the library does as well. Read her series in this order:
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
The others, Princess Academy, Austenland, and Book of a Thousand Days, can be read in any order since they do not pertain to each other. With the exception of Austenland, they are all fantasy/fairy tale based. Visit her site at www.squeetus.com!
Favorite Classic: Little Women by Louisa May Alcott
Favorite Book to Pick Up No Matter How Many Times I've Read It: Ella Enchanted by Gail Carson Levine
Favorite Series: The Chronicles of Narnia by C. S. Lewis
I absolutely love these stories. Seven books in the series, but all seven of them combined equals the size of one Harry Potter book. They were written for children, so they are quick and easy reads, but they leave lasting impressions. After you finish the series, start watching the new movies. This is one of those rare times when the movies actually do justice to the books. Though C.S. Lewis wrote them in a different order, to follow the story chronologically read them in this order:
![]() | ![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
![]() | ![]() | ![]() |
